TEAM INSIDER: Cool and Not Cool in 2024 Men’s Edition

We are back with another rendition of Cool and Not Cool, Men’s Edition! Keeping your wardrobe updated can be tricky, especially for men where there are so many seemingly identical options. It can be hard to tell what is worth your money and what isn’t. Luckily, our Men’s Style Director, Ben, is here with answers and tips for purchasing the right items to ensure you are cool for seasons to come!

For this week’s blog, we are focusing on the essentials. Refreshing your everyday basics will enhance the core of your wardrobe and help make getting ready that much easier.

JACKETS

SUEDE JACKET

Unless you’re actually riding a motorcycle, this style seems a bit aggressive when it comes to style. Try for one with less hardware, like this one from Brunello Cucinelli, or this “roadster” style from Thursday Boot Co. If the moto-style isn’t your thing, you can try a leather bomber jacket, like this one from Buck Mason.

PANTS

FLAT FRONT PANT

I’m starting to see less and less of these as I go through clients’ closets; however, I do manage to run into them on occasion. The older style of pants with pleats adds a lot of fabric and/or room in places where men don’t typically need it, and they are ultimately unflattering. If a man typically carries his weight in his butt and thighs, the key is to find the right brand(s) that have a more regular fit, like these from Peter Millar. I also recommend a cotton-twill 5-pocket pant for those guys in a more “business casual” work environment. These from AG are a client favorite and can also be worn casually too!

SHOES

LEATHER LOAFER

I often encounter driving moccasins still being worn with business casual looks and even, in some cases, suits! Instead, I recommend a leather loafer, leather sneaker, or a hybrid between the two.
